Who We Are
About Us
History
From a grassroots youth initiative in Komarock Estate, Nairobi, to a growing foundation transforming lives across Kenya.
Our History
Our Vision
To be a catalyst for a drug-free generation through partnership.
We envision empowered communities where young people thrive in safe, healthy, and supportive environments free from the effects of drug and substance abuse.
Our Mission
To inform, empower, and transform communities against substance abuse through collaborative partnerships.
Our mission is driven by prevention, education, advocacy, empowerment, and community-led solutions that address the root causes of addiction and social vulnerability.
Our Core Values
- Compassion – We approach individuals with empathy, dignity, and non-judgmental support.
- Integrity – We remain transparent, accountable, and ethical in all our work.
- Partnership – We build strategic alliances to maximize impact.
- Innovation – We apply evidence-based and culturally relevant methods.
- Inclusivity – We engage all communities, regardless of race, gender, religion, or background.
The foundation’s journey began in 2005 through grassroots community outreach initiatives led by Pst. Anthony Bwana, who witnessed firsthand the devastating impact of substance abuse and hopelessness among youth in Komarock and surrounding areas.
Driven by a passion to transform lives, he started mentoring young people through faith-based guidance, sports activities, counseling, and community engagement programs.
In 2010, the movement formally evolved into the Komarock Youth Alliance, a youth-led initiative focused on:
- Youth mentorship
- Drug awareness
- Community engagement
- Leadership development
As the need for structured intervention increased, the initiative expanded and became the Drugless Generation Network CBO, broadening its programs to include:
- School awareness campaigns
- Mental health advocacy
- Community outreach programs
- Counseling and psychosocial support
- Prevention and rehabilitation support initiatives
Today, the organization has grown into the Drug Free Generation Network Foundation (DFGN Foundation) — a registered NGO dedicated to serving communities across Kenya through evidence-based prevention strategies, empowerment programs, advocacy, and partnerships.
Why We Exist
Substance abuse continues to destroy lives, families, and communities across Kenya and beyond. Many young people are exposed to:
- Drug addiction
- Depression and mental health challenges
- School dropouts
- Crime and violence
- Gender-based violence
- Poverty and unemployment
Unfortunately, many communities still lack access to:
- Mental health support
- Prevention programs
- Counseling services
- Positive mentorship opportunities
- Economic empowerment initiatives
DFGN Foundation exists to bridge this gap by providing sustainable, community-centered solutions that focus on prevention, healing, empowerment, and restoration.
